Responsibilities

Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure and Geospatial division (Hexagon) is seeking a Chief Portfolio Architect for its Public Safety business in a remotely based position in the US.  The Public Safety Chief Portfolio Architect will report directly to the CTO and work closely with the leaders of Engineering, Product Management, and Cloud Operations. This role is responsible for defining and guiding the overall public safety solution architecture within the organization. The Chief Portfolio Architect will translate business strategy into architectural principles and ensure that the technology roadmap aligns with business goals. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and technical expertise, as well as the ability to bridge the gap between customer and business needs and the public safety solutions developed to meet those needs.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop the long-term architectural strategy for the Public Safety portfolio aligned with business goals and market trends.
  • Ensure architectural consistency across public safety products, platforms, and technologies
  • Establish and enforce architectural principles, standards, and best practices
  • Review and approve designs and technology choices across teams
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, security, and operational standards
  • Assess and recommend technologies, tools, frameworks, and platforms
  • Lead technical due diligence for vendor and tool selection
  • Ensure chosen technologies support scalability, performance, and reliability
  • Act as a solution bridge between technical product teams, product management, and executive leadership
  • Identify architectural risks and propose mitigation strategies
  • Ensure that all public safety products are interoperable and meet performance expectations

Education / Qualifications

  • 15+ years of overall software engineering experience are required.
  • Experience architecting and implementing public safety enterprise solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with a wide variety of modern software development, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure frameworks, and the ability to explain the pros and cons of each to achieve business goals. Experience with cloud services and solution architecture. Experience with Azure is a significant plus.
  • 10+ years of experience required in an architect or engineering leadership position.
  • Experience in designing and implementing highly usable software with modern Web-based and mobile UI technologies.
  • Experience in designing and implementing highly scalable cloud-based solutions.
  • Experience in techniques for data warehousing and analytics. Experience with Snowflake is required.
  • Experience with applying AI or Generative AI technologies in software products.
  • B.S. degree in Computer Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or other related degrees.
