Responsibilities
- Independently design and develop frontend, backend and mobile features following test-driven development methodology
- Design and implement RESTful APIs and microservices following API-first and design-first principles
- Write comprehensive test suites (unit, integration, end-to-end) before and during feature development
- Build secure applications following OWASP guidelines and secure coding standards
- Lead and participate in code reviews ensuring quality, security, and adherence to best practices, reviewing and approving the work of junior engineers
- Document technical implementations and capabilities
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines with automated testing at every stage
- Implement automated security scanning, code quality checks, and vulnerability assessments
- Configure deployment automation with rollback capabilities and deployment verification
- Establish continuous testing frameworks integrated into the development workflow
- Monitor and optimize pipeline performance and build times
- Work with microservices architectures and service-to-service communication
- Implement health checks, readiness probes, and graceful shutdown mechanisms
- Develop containerized applications using Docker with optimized multi-stage builds
- Implement circuit breakers, retry logic, and fault-tolerant design patterns
- Configure application monitoring, logging, and alerting using Datadog or similar tools
- Debug issues using distributed tracing and log analysis, find and fix bugs as well as identify software flaws, and propose effective solutions.
- Participate in on-call rotations and incident response
- Contribute to post-incident reviews and reliability improvements
Education / Qualifications
- CI/CD Fundamentals: Deep understanding of continuous integration and continuous delivery practices, pipeline design, automated testing gates, and deployment strategies
- Test-Driven Development: Hands-on experience writing tests first, maintaining high test coverage, and using testing to drive design decisions
- Design-First Principles: Experience with API-first design, creating technical design documents, and system design before implementation
- Secure Development Practices: Knowledge of OWASP Top 10, secure coding standards, input validation, authentication/authorization patterns, and security scanning tools
- Frontend: Proficiency in Angular, React, or Vue.js with modern JavaScript/TypeScript
- Backend: Strong experience in one or more: Java/Spring Boot, Python/Django/Flask, Node.js/Express, or Go
- API Development: RESTful design, GraphQL, API versioning, and documentation (OpenAPI/Swagger)
- Database: SQL proficiency, database design, query optimization, and ORM frameworks (e.g., Hibernate, SQLAlchemy)
- Docker: Container creation, image optimization, and security scanning
- Kubernetes: Pod deployment, services, ConfigMaps, Secrets, and basic cluster operations
- CI/CD Tools: Bitbucket pipelines, Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or similar
- Infrastructure as Code: Terraform or similar tools for infrastructure provisioning
- Version Control: Git workflows, branching strategies, and collaborative development
- Security Scanning: Integration of SAST/DAST tools (Snyk, SonarQube, Checkmarx) in pipelines
- Secure Coding: Understanding of injection prevention, secure authentication, encryption, and data protection
- Dependency Management: Regular security updates, vulnerability scanning, and license compliance
- Testing Automation: Unit testing frameworks (JUnit, pytest, Jest), integration testing, and E2E testing (Cypress, Selenium)
- Logging: Structured logging, log aggregation, and analysis
- Metrics: Application metrics, custom metrics, and performance monitoring
- Alerting: Creating meaningful alerts and reducing alert fatigue
- Debugging: Using logs, metrics, and traces to diagnose production issues
- 8+ years of full stack development experience
- Experience with high-traffic applications and production operations
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams
- AI-Assisted Development: Experience with GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, ChatGPT, or similar AI coding assistants
- Service Mesh: Exposure to Istio, Linkerd, or similar technologies
- Message Queues: Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar event streaming platforms
- Advanced Databases: MySQL replication/clustering, OpenSearch/Elasticsearch
- Caching: Redis, Memcached, or distributed caching solutions
- Microservices Patterns: Service discovery, API gateways, and inter-service communication
- Container Orchestration: Advanced Kubernetes concepts (StatefulSets, DaemonSets, Operators)
- Cloud-Native: 12-factor app principles, serverless functions, and cloud services integration
- Performance Optimisation: Profiling, load testing, and scalability patterns
