Responsibilities
As a Solution Architect you will play a key role in the technical leadership of Hexagons solution’s delivery. You will work with internal stakeholders and customer’s to provide solution design, delivery documentation and technical guidance on the delivery and implementation of Hexagon’s solutions to customers.
In this role, you will successfully collaborate and communicate with various business and technical stakeholders, drawing upon your broad experience and knowledge, to clearly understand customer needs and ensure that Hexagon’s solution design aligns with business and architectural objectives aligned to best practices in IT and software engineering. This role will require a national police clearance.
OBJECTIVES / MAIN ACTIVITES
Develop a broad understanding of all Hexagon products, services, and markets, as well as staying abreast of all new releases and products; maintain awareness of constantly changing software systems; act as Hexagon SME
With this broad knowledge and understanding of Hexagon’s solutions, develop end-to-end solution architecture for customer solutions
Play a leading role in the design, specification, and selection of high-quality information system solutions for Hexagon customers while considering the impacts to functionality, data security, integration, infrastructure, business requirements, and performance
Deliver solution architecture conceptual designs using standardised frameworks as defined by Hexagon
Analyse and capture customer and business requirements, document conceptual and logical solution components
Review project documentation as required to ensure that it meets technical standards
Identify business/process issues from the potential customers and translate them into Hexagon Solutions
Prepare and deliver concise customer presentations and demonstrations of the software/solution, articulately and confidently
Analyse the industry and market trends and determine new and potential business capabilities
Review, analyse, evaluate ideas, projects, and opportunities to identify new solutions for on projects and software.
Evaluate and present information that will facilitate effective and timely decision-making by utilising your immaculate written and oral communication skills to summarise findings and make appropriate recommendations
Provide high-level effort estimations in support of customer bids and opportunities
From time to time, provide presales support to other parts of the business
Share/transfer knowledge and skills with other Hexagon teams and individuals in support of Hexagons continuous improvement focus
Actively contribute towards ongoing improvements of Architecture and Technology practices and processes at Hexagon; participate in solution peer reviews
Provide strategic advice to the customer, and internal & external stakeholders for subsequent stages of the project, and when required act as Technical Leader in projects.
Collaborate with the development team as required to understand capabilities, processes, and solution design; participate in coding or business workflow mapping as required
Resolve technical issues as required across the software development lifecycle (SDLC)
Support the implementation and upholding of architectural governance controls across the SDLC and project management frameworks
Leverage your knowledge of common solutions and services to ensure that all solutions developed across the Business are aligned to Hexagon’s high-quality standards and principles
Always maintain consideration of all associated risks and costs, ensuring that risks and issues are flagged and escalated appropriately
Ensure that all architecture references including principles, policies, standards, roadmaps, frameworks, patterns, and methodologies are maintained throughout the presales process
Education / Qualifications
- Tertiary Level education in IT, Computer Science or similar relative field
- Knowledge of Enterprise Architecture methodologies such as TOGAF or the equivalent
- Solid understanding of Service Orientated Architecture and other interface architectures
- Proven professional experience in presales role (experience providing software demonstrations, and response of RFI’s and RFP’s)
- Proven track record in software or business architecture
- Understanding of business architecture and how it is supported by technology
- Demonstrated understanding of systems development, project management, and of requirements, design, and testing techniques
- Experience modelling requirements and/or business processes using a variety of tools and techniques
- Experience in selling, architecting, and delivering cloud solutions
- Experience with waterfall and agile methodologies (knowledge on Scaled Agile Framework is desirable
- Experience with implementing complex enterprise projects in a mission critical/high availability environment highly desirable
- Experience with (or understanding of) Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) / Mobile Computing (or any other Hexagon Safety & Infrastructure product or solution) is advantageous

- Ability to understand customers’ diverse and specific needs, and applying product knowledge to meet those customer needs
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills; ability to document the solution options and share knowledge with a consultative approach
- Demonstrable attention to detail and ability to work well within a team environment
- Demonstratable strategic thinking ability
- Conceptually strong, able to translate these thoughts into specific actions
- Ability to demonstrate complex technical solutions to customers
- Technical skills that span across .Net, databases, SOA, cloud computing and web framework at minimum
- Competency with hosting enterprise solutions on cloud technology platforms, Azure preferred
- Working knowledge of infrastructure including servers, storage, firewalls, load balances, and routers at minimum
- Technical knowledge in programming utilising current market computing technologies
- Ability to liaise with third party vendor providers, consultants, product centre in US, as well as American, European and Asia Pacific technical personnel
