Responsibilities
Hexagon Asset Lifecycle Intelligence division is seeking a Principal Product Owner to work as a key leader in our Industrial O&M product team and help shape and deliver new offerings, from ideation through to market launch, ensuring strategic alignment, customer value, and execution excellence. This role will be part of a growing team working on a strategic initiative focused on innovation and bringing new software products to market, addressing underserved needs in Operations workflows for asset-intensive industries such as oil & gas, chemicals, and utilities. The Principal Product Owner will work with cross-organizational teams, such as Portfolio Strategy and Development, to translate market and customer needs into development plans by defining and prioritizing requirements, while maximizing the value delivered by the team and ensuring alignment with product and portfolio strategy. This role will also interface with customers, collecting their feedback to validate requirements and design, and ensure opportunities to improve the product are captured and implemented.
- Bridge the gap between product strategy and development, translating market and customer needs into product release plans that meet business goals and deliver maximum customer value
- Define, manage and prioritize the product backlog, keeping the team focused on the highest-value work
- Act as the ‘voice of the customer’ for development teams, representing the needs of end-users and the business
- Work with Development and QA teams to ensure the product is released as per the established scope, quality, and time, to meet the needs of the business and customers
- Collect, analyze, and manage customer feedback to validate user needs and solution design
- Collaborate with UX to drive prototyping activities for iterative validation
- Serve as technical subject matter expert and enable the organization to sell, deliver and support the product
- Support and/or lead technical customer-facing webinars, meetings, user forums and other external technical presentations
- Manage stakeholder communications related to product release progress, proactively managing and mitigating risk
Education / Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in technical product management / product owner role, ideally in enterprise software for industrial applications (both SaaS and on-prem)
- Proven experience launching and scaling new software solutions in complex, multi-stakeholder environments, integrating multiple products into common workflow experiences
- Deep understanding of Operations user needs, workflows and business processes in industries such as oil & gas, chemicals, and utilities
- Experience with software product management and development methodologies (e.g. Agile, Pragmatic) and tools (e.g., Aha, Jira).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Knowledge of Hexagon tools like j5, AKMS, PSI, EAM and APM is a plus
