Overview
The Revenue Recognition Specialist is responsible for ensuring that revenue is recognized accurately and in compliance with applicable accounting standards and internal policies. This role requires strong analytical skills, the ability to interpret complex commercial contracts, and effective communication with cross-functional teams across the EMEA region.
Key Responsibilities
- Review complex sales contracts, agreements, and supporting documentation to determine the appropriate revenue recognition treatment in accordance with internal policies and applicable accounting standards (e.g., IFRS/US GAAP).
- Analyze and allocate revenue based on contract terms, performance obligations, and relevant revenue recognition guidelines.
- Collaborate closely with sales, technical, finance, and other internal or external teams to ensure accurate interpretation of contract terms and alignment on monthly revenue and sales results.
- Conduct training sessions for internal stakeholders on financial policies and procedures related to revenue recognition, ensuring consistent understanding across the organization.
- Develop and maintain instructional materials and process documentation, specifically in the area of revenue recognition.
- Update, manage, and communicate the Approval Matrix to relevant departments, ensuring roles and authorization levels remain clear and up to date.
- Support month-end and quarter-end close activities, including reconciliations, analyses, and revenue-related reporting.
- Participate in internal and external audits by preparing documentation and providing explanations where required.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve processes related to contract review and revenue recognition.

Education / Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Experience in revenue recognition, contract review, or technical accounting (preferably in an international environment).
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and/or US GAAP revenue recognition principles (e.g., IFRS 15 / ASC 606) is an advantage.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken).
- Experience with ERP systems and strong Excel skills.
Preferred Skills
- 3-5 years of experience in a multinational corporate environment, shared service center, or in an audit firm would be an advantage.
- Ability to interpret legal and commercial language in contracts.
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy in financial analysis.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
