Accountant

Responsibilities

1. General Accounting

  • Perform month-end closing for your assigned areas
  • Prepare journal entries and analyze general ledger accounts
  • Assist in preparing financial statements, summaries, and reports
  • Support external audit documentation and walkthroughs
  • Assist with implementation or upgrades of finance and other systems
  • Support tax filings and employee expense review

2. Revenue & Cost Management

  • Review estimates, purchase orders, acceptance reports, and invoices for billing and revenue recognition
  • Process billing and revenue recognition accurately
  • Manage costs and WIP
  • Monitor accounts receivable, unbilled receivables, and aging

3. Project Accounting (Potential Future Responsibility)

  • Understand complex project revenue recognition
  • Provide advice to service and sales teams on revenue and cost matters
  • Review project-related purchase orders and contracts, ensuring accurate order registration
  • Learn and troubleshoot project accounting systems independently

Education / Qualifications

  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in accounting
  • Knowledge of ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics GP preferred; SAP/Oracle a plus)
  • Native level Japanese, Business-level English (spoken and written)
  • Strong Excel skills (VLOOKUP, SUMIF, Pivot Tables, etc.)
  • Strong time management and accountability
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively
  • Eagerness to learn new tasks and drive process improvements
